Yuri launches ScienceTaxi BioSpin to the ISS in the commercial HUMB mission

Yuri, a Meckenbeuern (Germany)-based space biotech company celebrates successful premier launch of its newest ScienceTaxi BioSpin facility in the HUMB mission. The mission name is dedicated to Alexander von Humboldt – a German naturalist, geographer and explorer. The ScienceTaxi BioSpin has been under development and testing for last 3.5 years by its engineering team in Luxembourg.
ScienceTaxi was launched on Cygnus Spacecraft in the NG-23 mission. It will be powered and fully operational aboard the International Space Station. During the mission the ScienceTaxi will be transferred from Cygnus to SpaceX Dragon.
Yuri’s ScienceTaxi BioSpin is a state-of-the-art life sciences incubator that can host up to 38 individual experiments per launch, enabling a wide range of high-precision biological and medical experiments and production in space. With automated systems, controlled temperatures, and real-time data collection, it allows researchers the ability to analyze the effects of microgravity on various biological specimens, such as organoids, plants, and crystals. The built-in centrifuge also provides adjustable gravity levels, enabling comparative studies with Earth, lunar, or Martian gravity as a reference.

In this mission it carries, various types of ScienceShells developed by Yuri’s missions team in Germany. ScienceShells are automated mini-bioreactors accomodating biological experiments.
HUMB also carries experimental payload form commercial customers Astrobiome and Sophie’s Bionutrients in the ScienceTaxi.

This mission is a success story of Yuri in providing a reliable and sustainable pathway for commercial research in Low Earth Orbit. Yuri is a truly NewSpace company committed to continue biological and medical research advancements and drug discovery in microgravity.
